When you decide the moment is right, commit yourself to him. Don’t sneak up behind him with a scared look on your face like you are asking for a loan. Walk over with confidence, flash a big smile and begin your conversation.
Here is an example of what NOT to do when approaching single men.
Tip 1. Don’t integrate him by asking him what he does, where he works, what’s the name of his firm. Don’t bond with him about his company, his industry and talk war stories. Not cool.
Tip 2. If he does tell you what his occupation is, don’t insult the profession by saying that everyone you met tonight is a blah blah blah.
Tip 3. Certainly, don’t comment on his salary or his position where he works. That’s much too personal and indicates you are a gold digger.
Tip 4. Golden rule, don’t talk about former boyfriends and how successful they were.
Tip 5. In order to maintain your integrity, don’t come on to him too soon or too fast. That’s sluttish, not sexy.
Tip 6. In the beginning, let him offer you a drink, not the other way around.
Here is an example of what you Can do.
Tip 1. It’s okay to be funny as men really love single women who are funny. A quote from one of my matchmaking men. “Smart men appreciate smart and witty women. Go for it. If he’s a dummy, you don’t want him anyway.”
Tip 2. Make sure to introduce yourself near the beginning of the conversation. It’s good manors and makes the conversation more relaxing for him. This way, he won’t be wondering why he is talking to you for twenty minutes and still has no idea of what your name is.
Tip 3. Men love compliments so don’t be afraid to pay him a genuine complement. He is human after all. Here is another quote from my matchmaking client. “If a woman said she thought I looked handsome, I would be turned on and very approachable.”
Tip 4. Make sure you have one more topic of conversation. Make sure not to get stuck in one conversation. Move it to a new direction when the time seems right. Keep in your arsenal between 2-3 different conversations and no more. If he is really interested in your current conversation, don’t jump out of it and skip to another. Stay focused.
